Cancellation Policy
At a glance
- Cancel anytime from your Account page, with no fee. Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing further is charged.
- Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. The cases in which a refund is due are listed below, under When a payment is refunded.
- Immediate access. Access starts as soon as your payment is confirmed, at your express request. At checkout you acknowledge that, once access starts, you lose your right of withdrawal.
- Renewals are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise, and do not open a new withdrawal period. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your renewal date.
- Plan changes take effect at your next renewal; we do not calculate pro-rata amounts between plans.
How to cancel
You can cancel at any time from your Account page, which opens the Stripe billing portal, where you confirm the cancellation. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not cut your access short. There is no cancellation fee and no penalty.
Your renewal date is shown on your Account page next to Renews, and in the e-mail we send after each payment. To avoid the next charge, cancel before that date.
At the end of the paid period
After you cancel, you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. On that date member access ends and nothing further is charged. A period that has already begun is not refunded in part, except in the cases listed under When a payment is refunded.
Your account and the data in it remain, so that you can subscribe again with the same account, at the prices then in force. To close the account and have the data deleted, write to contact@econobeats.com: we delete it within 30 days, except the records we are required by law to keep, such as invoices and the related accounting data.
Renewals and price changes
Until you cancel, a subscription renews automatically at the end of each period — one, three or twelve months — for a new period of the same length, and the card stored with Stripe is charged. The renewal is charged at the same price as the period that has just ended, unless we announce a price change by e-mail to the address of your account at least 30 days before it applies; in that case the new price applies only from the first renewal that falls at least 30 days after the e-mail announcing it, and you can cancel free of charge before it takes effect.
Renewal payments are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise. An automatic renewal on unchanged terms continues the same contract: it does not open a new withdrawal period.
Changing your plan
You can move to another plan from your Account page. The change is scheduled for the end of the period you have already paid for: nothing is charged on the day you make the change, your current access continues unchanged, and the new plan starts at the next renewal, at its full price. We do not calculate pro-rata amounts between plans. If you select your current plan again before the renewal, the scheduled change is dropped.
If a payment fails
If a renewal payment does not go through, access to member content may be suspended until a payment succeeds. You can update your card from your Account page, in the Stripe billing portal. Stripe may retry the payment for a limited period; if you would rather not continue, cancel the subscription from your Account page to stop the retries.
The right of withdrawal and immediate access
For contracts concluded at a distance, a consumer generally has 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason (art. 9 of O.U.G. no. 34/2014). The law makes an exception for digital content that is not supplied on a tangible medium: the right of withdrawal does not apply once the supply has begun, if it began with the consumer's prior express consent and the consumer acknowledged that they thereby lose the right of withdrawal, and the trader has confirmed this on a durable medium (art. 16 lit. m) of O.U.G. no. 34/2014).
The EconoBeats platform is supplied online as digital content, not on a tangible medium, and access is made available immediately after your payment is confirmed. On our checkout page, before you press the Order with obligation to pay button, we therefore ask you to tick a separate box — not ticked in advance and not part of accepting the Terms and the Privacy Policy — with this text: "I expressly request immediate access to the platform and I acknowledge that, once access starts, I lose my right of withdrawal." The order cannot be placed without it. The button then opens Stripe's secure payment page, where you confirm the payment with the Subscribe button.
Your consent and acknowledgment are stored, with the date and time you gave them, with your Stripe payment session. After payment we send to the e-mail address of your account, on a durable medium, the confirmation of the contract: it confirms your consent and acknowledgment, with their date and time, and sets out the plan, the price, the renewal date and how to cancel.
Once access has started under these conditions, you no longer have a right of withdrawal from the contract. If any of these conditions was not met — for example, if we cannot show that you gave that consent and acknowledgment, or we did not send you that confirmation — the exception does not apply and you keep the right of withdrawal on the terms provided by law.
If you subscribe as a legal person or in the exercise of a profession, you do not have a statutory right of withdrawal.
When a payment is refunded
Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. A refund is due only in these cases:
- We end your subscription for a reason that is not attributable to you — we refund the part of the paid period you can no longer use.
- We end your subscription because you breached the Terms — we refund the unused part of the paid period; any damage we suffer is claimed separately.
- We substantially reduce what your subscription includes and you cancel for that reason — we refund the part of the paid period you can no longer use.
- The platform does not conform to the contract — under the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services (O.U.G. no. 141/2021), you can ask us to bring it into conformity and, in the cases and under the conditions set by that law, obtain a proportionate price reduction or terminate the contract, with reimbursement of the amounts that law provides. To rely on it, write to contact@econobeats.com describing what is not working.
- You keep the right of withdrawal because the conditions for losing it were not met (see The right of withdrawal and immediate access above), and you withdraw — we refund the amount you paid, within 14 days of the day we are informed of your withdrawal.
- We charged you by mistake, for example twice for the same period or after a cancellation had taken effect — we refund the amount charged by mistake.
- A court, a competent authority or a mandatory rule of law requires a refund.
Any refund due is made through Stripe to the card you paid with, unless you expressly agree to another means of payment, without undue delay and within any deadline set by law; we charge no fee for it. How long the money then takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer. We refund the amount in euro: if your card is in another currency, your bank's exchange rate may make the amount in your own currency slightly different from the amount that was taken.
Nothing in this policy limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
Questions and complaints
For questions about cancelling, renewals or payments, write to contact@econobeats.com or billing@econobeats.com, or use the contact form. We answer complaints in writing within 30 days. If a complaint cannot be settled directly with us, you can turn to the alternative dispute resolution (SAL) entity within the National Authority for Consumer Protection: information at https://anpc.ro/sal and complaints at https://reclamatiisal.anpc.ro. Using an out-of-court procedure is your choice and does not prevent you from going to court. The full procedure is described in the Terms of Service.
